Let’s do this!

HI! I’m Rachael. On this blog I will share my experiences and observations, thoughts and feelings as I go on this crazy journey from leaving Corporate America to figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. As a mom to a year 6 old, wife to a lovely gent 26 years my senior, a dog mama, a former New York Jew, a Peloton fanatic, a 20+ time half marathon retiree, and slightly overweight wine enthusiast, I want to keep the humor and importance of authenticity at the top of our minds. At 40 some may call it a “midlife crisis”, I am going with a “midlife *insert explicative here* adventure”.

It has been a self-indulgent pleasure to share with my former colleagues different articles, songs, feelings, and experiences that have crossed my mind over these past few months of “the virus” and as I exit Corporate America stage left. I look forward to sharing them with you.

PS. I am not an English major so if I miss a punctuation or my grammar isn’t spot on, I really don’t want to hear it.

PPS. I have encountered so many phenomenally smart, insightful, thoughtful people in my 20-year career. They will be invited to blog on my site as well. We all have something to learn from each other. If you want to contribute on this blog (with my editorial rights, mainly because I don’t want you telling everyone about that time I brought a flask to a four year old kid party OR how I am never the classroom volunteer parent OR any other “oh Rachael” stories you have saved in your memory banks; there are plenty) feel free to connect with me.

RACHAEL

R= Real, sometimes too real…I say too much or say it too straight….A= Authentic, what you see is what you get…and again back to real…just gotta do me. Only took to 40 to be comfortable with that…C= Caring, oh how I care…care possibly too much, I still care what you think and you feel, so haven’t quite mastered the mid life comfy….H=Helpful, yup, i’m in, what do you need?…and I will do it (if I can and it’s legal, or I’ll find someone who can)…A= Approachable, the opposite of high school Rachael, see more comfortable above…E= Enthusiastic, whoop whoop, let’s do it!…L=Loyal, oye vay, strength – weakness, its both.

I know super cheesy. What is this some lame class or introduction ice breaker, introduce yourself with one word that starts with the first letter of your name to describe you. BARF. How many times I have said “Radiant”… PS I am not radiant… but cracked under pressure and couldn’t think of any words that started with R. One time I was ready to call myself a rabbit….

But seriously.. try it… sit down and write yourself a poem.. no one is looking… It is great way to figure out what your values are. What you value in yourself. What you want others to value in you. Who you strive to be. PS. What’s the average the length of a blog. Are we good here?
